Thirsk is a vibrant, friendly and picturesque town with much to offer visitors in the immediate town and surrounding villages. Stunning scenery, history and great friendly people is what makes our town unique.
Together with local business, voluntary groups and like minded residents we are bringing the magic of Christmas to Thirsk for a weekend celebration of all things Yorkshire and all things Christmas! Alongside our usual Saturday Market crammed full of local suppliers, there will be food and gift stalls in the Town Hall adjacent to the Ritz Cinema.
Throughout both days the spirit of Christmas will be there touching all your senses with a real “Christmassy feel” Smell and taste the atmosphere by ambling through the stalls in our Indoor Fayre at the Town Hall on Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. Visit the shops in the town for special offers and discounts and some of them will even have mulled wine and mince pies on offer!
Thirsk is easy to find and access from all directions of the compass! We are nestled around 30 minutes North of Leeds, 30 minutes South of Middlesbrough and 30 minutes from York. We are just 6 miles off the A1M and have a dual carriageway (the A168/A19) leading pretty much all the way to the Town.
Our Train Station is on the East Coast mainline and trains run through it from East Coast Trains, Grand Central and TransPennine Express on a regular basis. We are also a stopping point for National Express coaches right in the market place so why not make a day trip?
For those Jet setters we have three airports nearby; Durham Tees Valley just North of Darlington, Leeds International Airport between Bradford and Leeds and of course for small light aircraft if you wish to fly in for the weekend use Bagby Airfield just 2 miles out of town.
